Bwthyn y Saer farm holiday accommodation was once an estate carpenter's workshop. The fast flowing waters of the mountain river that runs alongside the holiday cottages, once powered a waterwheel that powered the carpenter's tools.

The holiday accommodation is all on ground level, offering easy access for wheelchairs. The cottage consists of a lounge-diner, two bedrooms, bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen.

WEST WALES

Nanternis Farm
Nanternis, New Quay,
Ceredigion, SA45 9R

Website: www.nanternisfarm.co.uk

We are a small eight acre farm sitting on a slope which affords pleasant views, bounded on one side by a gentle flowing stream feeding into a river 150 yards away. A footpath follows the river down to the sea through National Trust land with a choice of pathways along the coastal cliff tops and beaches.

Nanternis is a snug little village just one and a quarter miles from the coast and two miles from the picturesque harbour of New Quay. Boat trips can be taken from here to see the seals, bird life and of course the famous New Quay dolphins. It is also an ideal base for touring, cycling, walking and horse riding.

There are numerous tourist attractions in the area to suit all ages and interests. You are also welcome to look around the farm, meeting our horses, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs and if you are around at feeding time you are welcome to lend a hand.

Pets welcome - there is a charge of £25 per week per pet.

We took Cindy to stay at Nanernis Farm for the first week of November 2008 and had a fantastic time!

The picture above was taken from the front patio area of the Dolau Inn, Newquay, which we were told would be dog friendly when they are not serving food, although we did not take Cindy inside - the view of the beach and coastline outside was too nice!

We enjoyed beautiful dog-friendly beaches in Newquay, Aberystwyth, Borth and Ynyslas (although some have summer time restrictions for dogs), and enjoying beautiful weather for the time of year. If your dog enjoys swimming as Cindy does, these beaches are ideal.

The cottage was lovely, with a warm fire prepared for our arrival, and the owners were friendly and helpful. The garden was safe enough for Cindy, with supervision, although maybe a more determined escapologist might need to be kept on lead. Cindy could have jumped the fences easily had she wanted to, and a small dog could wriggle through.

There was a pony, who's name is April Showers, in the paddock adjacent to the garden, which ignored Cindy's barking and attempts to make it startle so well that she gave up quite quickly, thank-you April Showers! We could hear the chickens and other farmyard residents, but Cindy could not see them, which meant we didn't have to worry about her getting any silly ideas in her head, as weimi's sometimes will!

Within easy walking distance of the cottage (though admittedly it became much easier towards the end of the week once our legs were more accustomed to the hills!) is the very friendly Crown Inn which welcomes horse riders, dogs and children and serves good, affordable food.

If you choose to stay here, please say that Cindy from Infopet recommended it to you - I can't wait to take her back!
