It can be read for enjoyment, or for advice on starting out in training. While this book is extremely helpful for novices who want to train their dogs, it is more useful if used together with Andy Nickless´s DVD, First Steps In Border Collie Sheepdog Training, which shows more directly what is involved. This book is also part of our heritage. Sheepdog skills have been handed down from shepherd to shepherd, dog to dog, and it´s a real delight to read the work of someone who is steeped in the skills.
